Dale Boyle and the Barburners: Electric Blues
Fronted by Lys Blues award winner, Dale Boyle and the Barburners deliver a blues performance
that covers a spectrum of musical influences. While “Firmly planting ‘one
foot in the blues’, the Barburners are able to use the other to step into any of a multitude of genres” (The
McGill Tribune).
Dale
Boyle and the Barburners' debut album release, A Dog Day For The Purists, features the swing of Poor
Boy Blues, the Texas blues influenced When I Leave, and the rockabilly flavoured Travelin' Bone. The
Barburners' sound is guitar driven: “Dale is a well rounded musician, who plays amazing guitar and the band’s music really reaches people”
(SPEC Newspaper).
Live,
these Toronto Blues Society national talent search finalists are, as one reviewer noted, a "closely knit band" with
Dale singing "unique original tunes and playing some wicked guitar” (Blueheart Archive).
In
2006, the Barburners' performed at Clarksdale, Mississippi’s Sunflower River Blues &
Gospel Festival and contributed 3 songs to the Maximum Blues in Clarksdale
"Live In studio" CD.
